Beetle PSX HW "in-game cinematics" / shader issues

Hey guys I’m using Beetle PSX HW and having an odd issue.

The games start just fine on gl and Vulkan. However once the PS1 boot animation is done (sound and video working fine) and the initial loading screens from my game (Grandia1) finish, an opening cinematic should proceed to play. This does not happen on my new setup it skips right to press start to play.

Cinematics were working fine on my old laptop manjaro kde, then I upgraded to ryzen7 and rx590 on manjaro 4.19 amdgpu kernel driver and since stopped playing cinematics. I have no other issues with gaming in general (steam etc)

It’s just the PS1 “in-game cinematics/movies” won’t play on beetle hw… I’ve tried gl and Vulkan on default core settings on both video drivers… Any tips or advice??

Thanks!!

Edit - verbose log (open RA, launch game to “press start to play” no cinematic) - https://pastebin.com/SXV7tCmV

Also getting this when closing a game after applying any slang shader, RA just crashes
