The Playstation Classic’s pads are quite good, and you can get a bundle that includes two of them for $20 these days. It’s a great deal, IMO.

They’re terrible for retro games that require a d-pad. The d-pad is in the wrong position, and it’s a clicky nightmare with no pivot at all. I love using the XBO for racing games because of the miracle that is trigger rumble, and it’s great for anything that plays with an analog stick, but I find d-pad games to be intolerable on it.
Also, the DS4 automatically works with everything too, since ds4win makes appear as an Xbox controller.
