issue with Saturn Kronos core as of 11-18-18

I have the latest nightly build of Kronos. And when I play Megaman X4, and Megaman 8, the sprite health is shifted within the health bars. And the sprites within the game look sort of shifted too.

Is there a reason why the sprites with these games look this way? Because Mednafen is fine, Yabuse is fine.

But the reason why I’m making a post specificly about Kronos, is because it is playing full speed with no sound slowdown for me on PC, it’s the best Saturn emulator I’ve ever played. But the sprite issues I’m seeing is an eyesore.

Thanks for any info/suggestions/tweak settings.

The way Kronos render graphics is totally different.

Did you try playing around with the tesselation setting in core options ?

I’m pretty sure I messed with them, but I’ll double check tonight. Honestly I don’t know the usage of the 3 tesslations, I was picking the gpu one to see if I get a boost with gpu. I’m running a geforce gtx 1060 6gb, Intel i7 2.6ghz.

Tesselation have no impact on 2D graphics it seems, i reported the issue.

I grabbed the latest nightly from 11-21-18, the sprite issues I had in the mega man games are fixed! The only remaining issue I still notice, is in MMX4, the sprite health meter is still not centered within the health bar.

I’ve also noticed there is a 1 second delay in sfx being initiated.

I was having a blast with this last night, I’ve ditched the Beetle emulator and have switched over to Kronos! I was oohing and ahhing to my wife about how this is the best Saturn emu I’ve tried, even the saves worked too in this latest build!

Also, is this core only able to use the “gl” video driver?

Interesting, while it appears it worked for some people, it didn’t work for me. I thought it was related to the gpu (i own a nvidia gpu too), but it appears it’s not then.

Yes, the renderer is using OpenGL. There might be a vulkan renderer in the future though.

Yeah I’ve been tearing through X4 and the sprites so far are the way they are supposed to look, just the health meters are wrong, and the slight notice in audio lag with sfx.

Do you know of any specific shaders that help with transparency, without the checkerboard look the original machine outputted?

Maybe I’m dumb but every time I launch a game with Kronos Retroarch freezes! Not a single game works. My Pc meets all requirements, standalone Kronos 1.5.0 works great, all other cores (like Beetle Saturn, Reicast, Citra etc.) work great and yes, I have put saturn_bios.bin and stvbios.zip in \RetroArch\system\kronos directory. Core version is 1.5.0 5271e94. Can someone help?

As far as i can tell from your unreadable output, it’s failing on retroarch shaders even before kronos renderer is actually started. It might be that retroarch windows only accepts OpenGL “Core” mode when used with intel gpu, Kronos is currently only working with OpenGL “Compatibility” mode.

I found out late last night I need to use the “gl” video driver. I’m running an Intel i7. The bios I had to have in a “kronos” folder within the system directory, I thought I could just have the bios within the system folder, since all my other core bios are like that.

So make sure that when you have the Kronos core loaded, (just the core) that your video driver is set to “gl” before you try to load any content.
