RGUI does not show (black screen) on an SDL-only device

Hello,

I am trying to run Retroarch on a repurposed Linux embedded device (Leapfrog Leapster GS). The problem is that so far we have only managed to get SDL working (i.e. no SDL2 nor OpenGL). It works reasonably well for older games when started from the command line, but when I try to run it standalone (to get the menu working - I do have menu_driver set to rgui), all I get is a black screen. Retroarch seems to be working (e.g. it responds to the quit button). That is why I wanted to confirm first: does RGUI work with SDL-only systems?

Hmm, SDL2 works fine with RGUI, it seems (just tested it here), but I don’t have SDL1 compiled in to test. I’ll ask around and see if I can find anything out for you.

I have remapped the menu controls and tried to access RGUI from within a game: the game properly pauses, but menu is not shown at all. From there I can only unpause the game. So it might not necessarily be a display problem, but RGUI problem.
