.CUE files set to open in Notepad. Not working in emulation anymore

Hey guys.

In the course of trying to get Mednafen to work, I accidentally set my cue files to open in Notepad. How do I get it changd back so the emulators will read it again?

I tried setting the default apps back with no luck. Any ideas?

The file association shouldn’t affect whether emus can open it. The more likely issue is that notepad probably screwed up some formatting.

Can you post a log of it failing to load?

Hey hunterk,

Where would I find the log?

go to settings > user interface and make sure ‘show advanced options’ is ON, then go to settings > logging and set “logging verbosity” to DEBUG and “log to file” to ON. It will create a log file in your RetroArch directory.

Gotcha. Here’s the log:

You’re missing the BIOS images.

Interesting. I had all those BIOS .bins in the firmware folder for Mednafen and it didn’t work still. Could you please tell me where to put them for the Kronos core?

It tells you where it’s looking for them in the errors. It’s looking both in ‘system’ and system\kronos.

Oh gotcha. Sorry I’m new at this. I’ve dopwnloaded the bios and then some and put themn in the folder location. I had to create the kronos folder because it didn’t exist. I am still getting a few bios errors.

ok, it’s still not finding some BIOS images, but it’s finding at least some of them, since it’s not complaining anymore. However, it’s still failing to load content.

Can you post the contents of your cue sheet?

Sure thing. Each track has a separate .bin file and the .cue file is set to open in Notepad (still can’t figure out how to change that back to normal). Below is what I see when I open the .cue file.

Try generating a new one from Redump.org: http://redump.org/disc/39083/cue/

You’ll need to rename your files to match it. And go download notepad++ instead of using regular notepad.

I tried using the redump you provided< Here is the log:

Hmm, dunno what to tell you. You say it worked before you tried to modify it? if so, I would recommend re-dumping your game.

Are other games working?

If you load the core but no games, then go to main menu > information > core information, is it finding all of the BIOS images that it needs?

No the files never worked with any emulator I tried.

How do I load the Kronos core without the games?

omg

The issue is almost certainly either bad BIOS or bad ROMs. Get ones that aren’t bad and you’ll probably be all set.

Haha ok then. I’ve tried a couple different rom files with no luck. I’ll give it go with a few more and see what happens.

Thanks!
