People are confusing DOSBox PURE with DOSBox standalone. PURE is based on it and is compatible with many things but they are handled in a totally different way.
No. You don’t need to create .conf files or .bat files for anything, least of all to change cycles.
Yes. You need to load from a zip. Many of the special and unique features, you get when you load from a zip.
