I'm Gonna Port RetroArch to OUYA. Is it ok?

I’m gonna try submitting with it in there, but the guys at OUYA are really stingy when it comes to pop-ups and stuff.

Here’s the quote from the email they sent me: I did notice some issues while testing. The screenshots from the games details page contain copyright IP. Also, could you please remove “Calculate the Refresh Rate” prompt because it is terminology from PC that doesn’t effect the OUYA. If you have any questions please refer to the “Content No-No’s” section under the “Content & Review” header.[/quote]

Those dudes quite honestly should go and fuck themselves and go grow a clue. A big “Content No-No” in my book is not knowing what the fuck you are talking about, and those guys definitely score quite high up to now.

Quite a good thing you are doing this release for us then because I honestly would have told them as such. Bunch of amateur startup dipshits thinking they know what they are doing.

Anyway, hold off until releasing until I get 0.9.9.4 out of the door either today or tomorrow.

BTW, it’s funny this ‘Calculate Refresh Rate thing’ came up because I just rammed through a change for 0.9.9.4 (entirely unrelated - don’t think I’m changing it because of these Ouya fuckheads) that will ask you at startup a ‘Mode of play’ - which is either ‘Threaded video’ or ‘Synchronize to refreshrate’ - and threaded video comes as recommended. So most likely this won’t even be an issue anymore unless they want to make a huge stink about having a secondary option to choose from like ‘Synchronize to refreshrate’, in which case we return back to the response ‘Go fuck yourself’. Seriously, who the fuck do these dipshits think they are - Apple?

So really - these guys need to learn there is no such thing as an ‘out-of-the-box ideal configuration’ when it comes to emulation.

I find it hilarious the Ouya people want to hide features from users. They’re trying so hard to be a real video game company that they’re going to alienate people.

Alright guys, just wondering, is the source on Github updated for 0.9.9.4? I’ve already uploaded 0.9.9.3, but I didn’t know if the source was updated on Github, so I just got the APK, modified it, recompiled. But when I put it on Ouya it crashes on boot, I would so some debugging but I’m on my laptop ATM without the SDK installed.

You will have to debug it I’m afraid.

I just pushed another commit but it’s unlikely to affect anything on your end.

Ugh, so while I dont have the SDK and havent debugged yet, I was experimenting and found that the reason for the crash on boot is the package name change, because if I don’t do that, the app works a-ok. Any idea why this would happen guys? Thanks.

Yes that is because we now use a native activity wrapper instead of just using the ‘default native activity class’.

You might have to fiddle around in the manifest to get it to work this time (android/phoenix).

If you can’t get it to work, I’d highly suggest that you tell those Ouya devs to delist whomever ‘registered’ with our package name and that you got our consent to do this - since it will make maintenance a lot easier if you don’t have to screw around with either the Java frontend code or our C backend.

Sounds like a good idea, although their support takes decades to reply, but nonetheless, I’ll do it :stuck_out_tongue:

Just tested it… there’s a retroarch port on the ouya store already. works perfectly.
