MAME Problems

Good day.

First, hanks for the great program.

I’m not sure if this is the rite place to post this. I’ve tried various search words, cant find anything.

I cant get MAME to work. I tried on my android phone, pc, laptop and other computers (WIN 7 64bit). I’ve tried the mega pack 20140105 and v1.0.0.2 win 64 downloads. On my phone (Sony experia go) I’ve got an old version 0.9.9.6 and 1.0.0.2 installed. MAME games that works on 0.9.9.6 does not want to work on 1.0.0.2. I’ve played the same roms on other MAME emulators to make sure the roms are working.

Please help Sorry if my English is bad its a second languish.

It’s almost certainly an issue with the ROMs not matching the MAME version. Unfortunately, you need ROMs from exactly the same set as your MAME version, so when you load up the core and look in RGUI (the in-game menu with green text), it should say 1.51 or something like that. That’s the ROMset revision you’ll need for it.

It’s a big hassle, I know, but that’s just how MAME does it.

Thank you.

Is there a way to use the MAME core from Retroach version 0.9.9.6 (I have on my phone) in version 1.0.0.2? I can see the core version in the RGUI its 0.151, How do I check the Rom version?

You can use the core from 0.9.9.6 if your phone is rooted. Just copy the mame library (probably named something like mame_libretro.so) into the same directory on your new install. I forget the exact directory, but it’s inside /data/data/com.retroarch/ or something like that.

I don’t know of any way to check the ROM version, unfortunately. Just download new copies to match your version.

No root unfortunately. I used 7zip to extrac the files from the apk and got the mame 0.78 file, but its an .so and for windows it hase to be a .dll. Is there someware I can download other core versions?

Oh, I didn’t realize you were going from Android to Windows. I happen to have a mame078 build laying around: http://www.mediafire.com/download/921k8 … 131001.zip

Thank you. It worked! I use Retroarch on both my phone and computers. I’ve added the core to my Retroarch Dir. My ROMs I had for a long time is working again, but the huge library I got the other day is some unknown version. Thats ok, I can play my favorites again. This may be a stupid question, whats the difference between the 2 Retroarch downloads, RetroArch-v1.0.0.2-64-bit.zip and RetroArch-20140105-Win64-MegaPack.zip? Thank you again.

I believe v1.0.0.2 is newer than the megapack. I think the megapack was just left up there in case someone wanted/needed the previous version for some reason.

I’m glad you got it working

Thank you.
