[Recommended specs] Dedicated Retroarch PC for TV

There are many alternatives… Hyperspin for instance. Moving attention from core functionality wouldn’t be good for RetroArch in my opinion.

This is comming to RGUI

Very cool Andres. No one is suggesting that retroarch change focus.

I am merely commenting on the state of the “industry” so to speak. For frontends, you either have bare bones solutions like RGUI, or over-the-top very complicated bells and whistles galore offerings like hyperspin.

There is no middle ground, the “it just works” solution for frontend. Good design and good looks are not just a bonus in this day and age, we expect things to be visually intuitive. The only thing that comes close so far is openemu (openemu.org) which actually is based on libretro. However, it lacks a 10 foot GUI for it to be truly useful.

There are a number of different frontends in the works right now, including an OpenEmu lookalike (for windows/mac/linux): viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1379 and an artwork fetcher/browser for Android: viewtopic.php?f=29&t=1357
