I’m confused as to which is the first level. I took screenshots to help you see what I have going on. Should I move the bios file to RA Sys 1 or RA Sys 2?

Sys 1. Like mine

Thanks, your screenshot helps me to understand where to put that bios file. I’ll have to boot into Mint tomorrow afternoon and fix this. Lost power to my home for 16 hours and have to run out now. Be back to let you know how things go.

I’ve moved the Retro Arch BIOS pk to the right directory. I need to extract it in that same directory, right?

As I told before, the contents of the bios pack goes inside the system folder. You keeping moving the pack to other places. Just extract inside the system folder. If for some reason this don’t work, just move the contents.

And if you want to test a Snes game, you don’t even need a bios. You will only use a bios for arcade games, old pc cores and CD based consoles.

Don’t be afraid to test things. If something goes wrong, just try again.

I tried to loads and play GTA 3 PS3 and it fails to load content. Maybe I don’t have the right Sony Rom or Core?

I have been going through the interface and that’s helping to see what’s there so I’m starting to understand more each day. I’ll keep trying, thanks.

I was able to launch Donkey Kong so that’s working and I’m happy.

I’m just puzzled on how to fix failed to load content when trying to play Play Station games. I’m reading through the guide here about installing cores.

There is no core for PS3 emulator. If fact, PS3 emulation still had a lot of issues. Don’t bother with that now.

Take a look. These are the cores supported by RA.

Great. Now you are getting.

For PS1 you will need these bios files inside the system folder:

https://docs.libretro.com/library/beetle_psx_hw/#bios

And you can try to find PS1 games in .chd format. It will make everything easier for you.

I downloaded those 3 bios:scph bin files and verified the checksums, and put them in place, thanks! Now I’m off to find some roms for PS1.

Once I get this all set up on my Linux box I can teach my friend how to install Linux, install Retro Arch and he’ll be gaming with RA in no time!

It’s hard to understand sometimes as I have post traumatic stress syndrome. Enjoy your weekend McCloud and thanks for your patience.

I had a good weekend, hope you did too.

After downloading a PS1 rom (ATV Racers USA .chd it only plays in Demo mode. Do I have the wrong core or a bad rom?

It’s running, so probably you downloaded the wrong rom.

Roger that!

While reading the online Guide, I’m having trouble understanding setting the default directory under the ‘File Browser’ section. https://docs.libretro.com/guides/file-browser/

Looking under my /media directory which “content folder” should I select under /home? RABIOS? Or ROM?

Should I start a separate thread/post for that?

The “default” folder is the first folder that RA will look for contents to load. In your case, to make things more simple, look for your roms folder. Doing that everytime you need to open something, it will be the first place that RA will look.

Got it:- I’ll set the default folder to my roms folder. Thanks-

I started a new topic in the Off Topic section called: “Life Outside of Retro Arch” if you want to check it out.

I’m having trouble selecting my Rom Directory. This is the directory that I want Retro Arch to look in so I don’t have to keep selecting it manually through the interface.

The 2 directories that I have available under File Browser are: /home/username /media So /home/username/ROM is what I want. How do I tell it to use the ROM directory under /home/username?

Go inside the folder you want and then choose use this directory. It’s the 2nd option

I’ll do this in the afternoon and let you know how it goes. Thanks! :grinning:

Ok, I followed the path from Settings > Directory > File Browser > /home/username/ROM. The default is now set to my ROM folder/directory.

I’ll finish reading the rest of the documentation next week. Thanks McCloud for all of your help and enjoy the weekend!- :grinning: :headphones: :desktop_computer:
