RetroArch Wii doens't run (black screen)

hi, when i launch RetroArch from Hombrew Channel i have black screen and i must to power off Wii. i have correctly put all files on “/apps/retroarch-wii” SD directory:

why it doesn’t work? :frowning: all other wii emulators (FCE Ultra GX, Genesis Plus, Snes9x GX, Frodo ecc…) works perfectly. i have Wii PAL 3.3E with old soft mod (Twilight Princess Hack).

i have found a workaround:

  • rename boot.dol to crap.dol
  • rename genesis_plus_gx_libretro_wii.dol to boot.dol
  • Launch RetroArch Wii, now it works, and set core directory on /apps/retroarch folder
  • rename boot.dol to genesis_plus_gx_libretro_wii.dol
  • rename crap.dol to boot.dol
  • Play :-þ

As a first step of troubleshooting black screen issues like that, I would advise clearing the config files first so that it starts fresh. They are in sd:/retroarch and have the extension .cfg. I would also strongly advise refreshing/upgrading your softmod to 4.3E plus all applicable patches using modmii. So that you can get USB2.0 support (available since 4.3) and also be at a standard baseline system version as what the latest RetroArch releases are tested on.

at the first start there isn’t config file if it give black screen.

That may well be, but a corrupt config file can also cause a black screen.

Erase the config files in retroarch folder, (not inside apps folder)
