What is the state of Mame emulation (android core)?

Hello guys,

I’ve kinda been out of the loop the past few months, and now i’m planning to get a new smartphone (a Xiaomi with Snapdragon 855).

Just yesterday i tested the infamous Cave Cv1000 shmups (Espgaluda 2) on a friends OnePlus 6 (Snapdragon 845) and to my complete surprise, it was full speed! Finally! (curiously on my girfriend’s Exynos S9 plus, the game is stuttering)…anyway…

Now i’m wondering if Mame cores had some progress, like adding the cheats menu, where you can modify the CPU speed (Overclock and Underclock) which is important for the accurate emulation of Cave Cv1000 games.

AFAIK, we still haven’t gotten the up-to-date MAME core to compile successfully for Android, but the MAME2016/2014/2010 cores should work okay, I think. I’m not sure if any of them support bringing up the cheat menu, but they should support using ini files for that sort of thing.
