1.2.2 crashes on XP netbook

So I tried using Retroarch as means to revive an ancient EEE PC 901 running XP, but to no avail. It crashes on startup.

When using the --verbose option, the last message is: “Does not have enough samples for monitor refresh rate estimation. Requires to run for at least 4096 frames”.

Is this my problem? Can I somehow force a refresh rate?

what does the crash message say?

“retroarch.exe has detected an error and needs to close”.

Try changing the video_driver in your retroarch.cfg to “sdl” instead of “gl”. I think that’s the most common hangup on very old machines.

I think he might be missing the redist and/or directx

The error message concerning a missing directx is very specific, DX9 is def. installed (can’t go higher on XP).

Will try and change the video driver tonight, thank you!
