“two” Two Tigers, Tutankham.
This completes up to letter U from Vertical Arcade repository.
Volfied, Viper Phase 1, Victory Road, Vasara 2, Vampire Savior, Vigilante, Wrestle Mania, Wild West Cowboys of Moo Mesa.
This is awesome. Great work. I’m late to the feedback on light vs dark but I definitely like the darker one more as well. That’s going to stand out nice in your arcade room you have. Make sure you send pics of it in place added to your others (assuming that’s where this one is going?).
Thanks @MagicHat, I’m definitely going with the darker colors, that seems to be unanimous And yes, I’ll be putting in the arcade room. I also have another Dynamo HS-1 that I’ve been thinking to turn into a Ghox cabinet, just because it’s unique and I don’t have another dedicated spinner-based cabinet.
I’m chatting with some of the guys that run a couple arcade art shops over in the UK about having the art printed. I still have to sand down the cabinet, paint it, clean up the coin doors and potentially replace the marquee light. And I have a new control panel on order too which may take a 3-4 more weeks to arrive.
I’m also still debating on whether to get a replacement 25" CRT or just use this 26" Unico 4:3 IPS panel. Honestly, with the RetroArch shaders and runahead I don’t feel like there’s a huge difference between that and the Mister FPGA with CRT I’m comparing it against. The shaders are just getting so good.
Anyway, it will be a while before it’s all together, unfortunately. I’ll definitely share the finished product!
I liked the lighter one, but I’m not one to stand against progress.
I am more of a fan of a slightly lighter version of the darker one.
Now you say it lol. The final one is something in between the first comparison I posted. So a compromise
Xenophobe.
This completes all overlays available now from Vertical Arcade .
I’ll continue making .params
for other authors overlays like @sorbeppe and @walter.farmacia, while waiting @ArsInvictus to make more.
I like the arcade showing behind the narrow part of the cabinet on this one.
uploading failed ? no Xenophob in the folder
Tks again
Thanks again for letting me know. This time I’m pretty sure I did upload it. Clearly there is a bug or something weird with Google Drive.
Rabbit Punch (rpunch), clone of Rabio Lepus (rabiolep). Also an alternate version of Asteroids. Both by @walter.farmacia.
Cliff Hanger Edward Randy and Die Hard Arcade by @sorbeppe
Improved bezel version and large version of Golden Axe by @ArsInvictus .
Vs. Excitebike, Ninja Gaiden (bezel and large), Fighting Hawk, Gondomania (two versions), Great 1000 Mile Rally (two versions), Great 1000 Mile Rally 2, and Heavy Barrel by @sorbeppe
Most of the @sorbeppe large screen horizontal overlays have the same format, so I created a _sorbeppe.params
file and refer to it in "game".params
file.
EDIT: Please someone post something!! The 3 post limit won’t let me make a new post. Thanks!
Yadda Yadda Yadda
Thanks @hgoda90!!
I was thinking about “default” overlays for cases where custom ones are not being made yet. so I’m wondering if Mega Bezel can be used to make “generic” overlay templates (one for verticals and one for horizontals), BUT with interchangeable marquee.
Those templates would have just the coindoor, speaker panel and a simple black border for the Bezel and game screen, but empty at the top, so we can use a “texture” folder and put all marquees there, letting Mega Bezel to “build” the actual overlay in the fly.
I mean, instead of having just a static default overlay, having a “dinamic” one, at least for marquees.
We could have fixed bezel parameters for that particular overlays, also marquee could be dinamically stretched to fill the space. I know some of them will look bad, but it is better than nothing, right?.
Sorry if it sound obvious for you guys, mostly for @HyperspaceMadness, but I just realized of it.
It’s 100% possible because of WildCard. The marquee image path just has to be something like “texture/$GAME$.png” and the images have to be named after the mame game name.
Check out WildCard path replacement https://docs.libretro.com/guides/shaders/.
Yeah! That was my idea. Thing is we would need to load a “fixed” image for the cabinet, and a dinamic image for the marquee. I don’t know if Mega Bezel is able to load more than one image, and also how to compose them so the marquee fits at the top, and it is automatically stretched.
Mega Bezel can load up to six images. I think HyperspaceMadness and Duimon could explain the placement settings better than I can.
BackgroundImage = "../../../__global/images/mbz/stick/bgs/snes.png"
LEDImage = "../../../images/mbz/stick/ball.png"
DeviceLEDImage = "../../../images/mbz/stick/ball.png"
DecalImage = "../../../__global/images/decals/snes.png"
TopLayerImage = "../../../images/mbz/stick/top.png"
CabinetGlassImage = "../../../images/mbz/stick/glass.png"
Edit: Forgot DecalImage.
Maybe we can use TopLayerImage
or CabinetGlassImage
for loading the Marquee. I’m not sure if Mega Bezel is able to automatically strech it to a specific size to fit the hole at the top of the cabinet. Maybe @HyperspaceMadness can help us with that.
You could use Scale X to stretch the image horizontally. Check out the Mega Bezel ReadMe on github page to get the summary of all the settings.
