After reading the “Mission” statement about how this program is supposed to be free (as in beer) without ads, I thought I’d mention that I discovered a version of Retro Arch for IOS here: http://emu4ios.net/ which displays ads. Someone’s being naughty, and I’m sure it’s not the developer!
Yeah, we’ve talked to the guy at emu4ios and he’s just distributing a build from some guy that goes by AllEmu who inserts the ads. We would offer our own non-jailbreak build, but we don’t have a burnable enterprise certificate to sign it with. If anyone knows how to get ahold of one, send me a PM and we can see about getting our own build out there instead.
I don’t begrudge the emu4ios guy for hosting/distributing it, since he doesn’t necessarily share our values on monetizing and he’s not getting the money anyway. I am a bit miffed at AllEmu for going against our wishes, but RetroArch is GPL, so it’s legal, if scummy. Snes9x does have a non-commercial license which should preclude that sort of thing, but I don’t think those guys would really care about that, since they’re already operating in a legal grey area with the enterprise cert signing…
