Disclaimer, I’m a noob. I was hoping to be able to play Amstrad CPC games on RetroArch. I’ve seen mention that it’s possible using Mess/Mame (I read Mess was integrated into Mame) but I cannot find either in the list of available Cores in the Android app. Is it possible for a noob to implement the necessary steps to get it working or would it be quite complicated and require compiling of code etc?

the plain ‘MAME’ core also includes MESS. However, getting MESS games to work in RetroArch is a real PIA. There are threads that go over the steps but it’s more trouble than it’s worth, IMO.
If you are using an NVIDIA Shield or similar Android device you might be able to use a core that I have compiled manually for my own use.
If you edit your retroarch.cfg file and temporarily make the following change: core_updater_buildbot_url = “http://lindqvist.synology.me/shield/”
Then you can download the core using the Retroarch core updater function. Just change the setting back afterwards.

Sorry to resurrect this topic. First, thank you very much for your effort. It’s really great to have Amstrad CPC emulation in Retroarch.
I’m trying to configure it in my Android GPD XD console, but some games need more keys than Space, Esc, Up, Down, Left, Right and Fire. How can I configure more keys to use in a game?
