Analog button on Playstation controller

Hi everybody.

I’m using the PCSx ReARMed core to emulate “Parasite Eve” on my FireTV stick. This works very good. But I have a question concerning the gamepad.

I have a controller with analog joysticks (8Bitdo SF30 Pro). To use the analog sticks, I have to go to “Quick menu => Options” and set “Pad 1 Type” to “Analog”. From this point on, I can use the analog stick for controlling everything instead of the D-Pad. Even after closing and restarting Retroarch.

This is nice but sometimes I want to switch back to the D-Pad controls. For example in the menus. On a real Playstation controller I could do this by pressing the Analog-button on the middle of the gamepad. On a Dualshock controller there is also a red LED that indicates that Analog mode is on. So I can turn this on or off as required.

Is this also possible in RetroArch? I have looked in “Hotkeys” and “User1 Binds” and “Quick Menu => Controls” but I cannot find anything to map the Analog-Button (which every original Playstation Dualshock controller has) to my 8Bitdo gamepad.

Any ideas?

I do not think that there is an option like that. Probably you can achieve that with a script, but you’ll have to find or develop that…

If am I correct, this option does not turn of the digital pad…

I thought the same. But when I use the Analog-stick like described above (with setting “Pad 1 Type” to “Analog”) I cannot use the D-Pad anymore. And vice versa.

In the instruction manual of the game (Parasite Eve) it says in the controls-section on page 3, that the D-Pad is “not assigned” when in analog mode.

I think that this can vary depending on the game.

I believe there’s a hardcoded gamepad combo that does the same as pressing the analog/digital button on a real pad. I forget what it is, though…

Oh wow. That would be so great. Maybe you remember.

I believe it is Select, Start, and all four shoulder buttons

Yes. This indeed works. It resets the game. Lol.
