Android 4.4.2 Kitkat - cannot use zipped ROMs on ext SD Card

I’ve received the Android Kitkat update about a week ago on my Galaxy S4. Now, with the recent Google policies concerning storage, an app can no longer write on secondary storage except on its designated folder.

The problem I have is that all my ROMs are on an external SD Card and now RetroArch cannot unzip them anymore since writing is no longer permitted. I’ve tried different settings and searched for a similar topic here but found nothing that can help me.

Is there something obvious I’ve missed? Is there a way to use zipped ROMs on an external SD Card with the current version of RA of should I wait for the next one? Really, Google is starting to remove the freedom we had in Android bit by bit and this is beginning to be a problem.

This isn’t retroarch’s fault but I guess a temp dir owned by retroarch should be a good solution. If you’re rooted you can use this: http://lifehacker.com/sdfix-allows-kitk … 1548731298

Yes, an option to change the default working folder would be nice. I hope RA devs will add it in a future release.
