[android] Can my controller keys be mapped to save/load savestates?

Hello, I have been using my ps3 controller to use retroarch and it works great but I would like to remap some of the buttons to be used for savestates (which I use frequently). I have seen mentions of the ability to manually bind controller keys on these forums but thus far I have only gotten the auto configuration to work.

Is this something that I can do with this emulator? Is it possible for me to map unused keys (like L3 and R3) for savestate usage?

You definitely can in the Windows and Linux versions, so I’m assuming you can in the Android version. If there’s a config file you can edit, you can probably copy->paste your L3 button to the save state action. Try editing the save state input first so the interface writes a save state input line in the config file, then modifying that line with the desired button. Don’t quote me on this though, since there may be some reason I’m not aware of that you can’t, plus I’ve never used the Android version. I realize this paragraph is mostly useless. I hope it helps point you in the right direction though.
