[Android] overlay question

I have a gamepad that works fine, but for save states etc. I noticed from browsing this forum you need to have overlays on. Is there, and is it possible to:

have an overlay that is just the quick menu button. if there is, can you create/edit one without rooting your phone? and where are the overlays stored.

You need overlays to access the quick menu. The default overlay lets you hide it.

You also can configure it to autosave/autload when you quit/start the emulator.

I found one that hides after a period of time that works fine. Thanks.
