Arcade stick troubles

Hi all, I’m trying to get a Mad Catz Tekken Tag Tournament fighting stick to work with Retroarch. It’s detected correctly, as a classic controller, however the input detection has trouble. Button presses seem to have a lag when transitioning from pressed to not pressed, and if you do a lot of motions quickly, the inputs seem to get smeared or ignored, like button events are being missed.

I opened a ticket here: https://github.com/libretro/RetroArch/issues/1009 but wasn’t sure how much attention Wii issues get on there. I wanted to see if anyone here had ideas on what could be done to get the controller working better. I’m currently able to build Retroarch locally, but trying to build with a patched libogc hasn’t improved the situation that I can tell.
