Audio Interpolation/DSP plugins

Hi all,

I have RetroArch installed and working from source via RetroPie but the snes audio sounds distorted/buzzy.

I attempted to play a rom on my PC desktop and messed with the audio settings. When audio interpolation is set to none in the emulator I get the same sound distortions as on the pi. If I set any interpolation (gaussian, cubic, or 8-point) the sound artifacts go away!

Is there a DSP plugin or setting that will help resolve this?

I am running the audio over HDMI, alsa, with a sample rate of 44100, and am overclocked on Turbo.

I may be mistaken, but I think the poor audio quality is one of the sacrifices for speed that allows SNES to run on RPi at reasonable speed.

So I got the snes9x-next libretro core to compile and run on my pi. It resolved the audio artifacts, until about 10 seconds into the rom when the performance tanked and the audio started skipping. I’ll have to see if there is a way to improve the performance of the snes9x-next core.

I don’t think the Pi can run any decent SNES core at fullspeed.
