Beetle PSX and Mednafen PSX naming

I had to move lots of saves (Memory Cars) and save states to the new Beetle PSX folder (it’s been a while now), but this is the only system I can’t save a config file for, if I change something, go to configuration and try saving it, it says it failed to save the new config and I’m forced to create a new config file, it makes a new config file like “mednafen_psx_libretro-1” it goes on and on.

While the save and states folder changed to Beetle PSX, the core remains mednafen_psx_libretro.dll, and so its config file, is there any reason I can’t save the alterations to the config file without creating a new one every time?

Note: I already deleted the old mednafen PSX config and created one from scratch but the problem persists.

Shot in the dark, but perhaps try to change the default save folders in the Directory menu?

For “System/BIOS”, “Savefile” and “Savestate”, define a custom directory and see if that snaps the core out of it.

I won’t try that simply because all other cores works without any issue, they use \save and \state folders and sort by system there, even if the change makes saving configs work, the problem will remain, I have no idea why it only happens to this core.

I remember having some similiar issues with the name changeover as well.

If I recall correctly, I just copied the contents of my config file, and then straight up deleted both the mednafen_psx and beetle_psx \config folders. Then I saved a new one from within retroarch and replaced it with the copied contents of the original. After that I think it worked ok…

Another thing I tend to do though, usually when new versions of RA itself are released, is I will straight up install and start from scratch because I know some config options have changed/vanished. It can be a touch tedious, but I know there was a couple times in the past that my configs were a bit wonky before this habit.
