I’d get a used android smartphone on the second hand market with mid-level gaming capacities and strap it on a controller with those cheap plastic straps. Some guys even got them 3D printed. Maybe with LineageOS and Fdroid to get the best of it. 100$ tops. Or even better, check if your actual phone isn’t already able to run ps2 emulation.
Melon DS DS is awesome on the phone, touchscreen and all, but PS2, games were meant to be played on bigger screens, for longer sessions and with proper controls. Past the initial fun of saying that it runs on a tiny device, like those Doom games installed on electronic pregnancy tests, I don’t think they’re really comfortable to play like that.
I have a iPhone 14 so sadly won’t work and not even a Good Emulator for PS2 for iPhones at the Moment
