I have a nvidia shield and I have been tearing my hair out trying to figure out how I can bind the rewind and fast forward functions to the back triggers.
Anyone know if its possible on the latest android version?

I just figured out a workaround if anyone is interested.
The new update on the Shield allows you to hold the START button to launch an interface that allows you to bind touch screen actions to the physical buttons. I just disabled the gamepad bindings and put the touch-pad interface on the screen.
Then I would just bind all the touch screen actions to the physical buttons buttons including the fast forward to the right trigger (and the rewind to the left trigger). After you do that you can just turn to opacity to 0% so you dont have the buttons visible on screen and you have everything you need to bind working perfectly.
Thanks for posting that – was having the same problem trying to figure out how to bind rewind/ff to the triggers. Could you share your nvidia shield mapping file?
Would be nice if we could edit the config file directly and add the bindings there instead. I just got my Shield a couple of days ago and am kinda new to android (on this level) and retroarch as well, so don’t know if that’s possible.
It should be possible to remap all the controls in Android just like in all the other ports. Hopefully this will be implemented in the next release.
