Can't Get Rondo of Blood to work

Okay so I have been trying to get Rondo of Blood working on my Retropie for awhile now but I can’t. I have manged to get Lords of Thunder working fine but Rondo of Blood is just proving to be a pain. I know about the whole .bin and .cue thing but even when I fix it it doesn’t seem to wanna work. I have heard from some people that iso files may or may not work but at this point I’m out of options, any help would be nice

Well you’ll need to give us more info than “It doesn’t work”. Does it crash as soon as you load it? Are you able to get to the CD bios screen?

I assume you are using the japanese system card 3 bios as well.

Regarding .iso vs. .bin/.cue, I couldn’t give you a 100% answer on it being ‘better’, but I can tell you I don’t have problems with any Super CD-ROM^2 game that is in .bin/.cue. (Arcade CD-ROM^2 is a whole other story…)

As a general rule I convert any/all CD based games to .bin/.cue and leave the .iso format for DVDs.

I just played through Akumajou Dracula X - Chi no Rinne, if that’s the one you’re trying to get working. I used a cue+iso, with the ISO having an MD5 sum of: 8d643fec496a86653722feea7c6048ba Here’s my cue sheet:

fixed it? how? why would you fix it? does it work in other emulator but not retroarch? if it does, how did you try to fix it then? iso? cant run it with iso alone.

Didn’t work I’m afraid. I tried getting this particular rom to work for ages now. Bout ready to give up unless you have an alternative rom.

As always with CD games:

  • Get a Redump image whenever possible
  • Always load the cue file
  • Make sure you have firmware file(s) in your RetroArch system folder. In this case you need syscard3.pce

I won’t link to it but I have “Akumajou Dracula X - Chi no Rondo (Japan) (FABT, FACT)” and it works fine (only tried on amd64 though). It has one cue and many bin files. I would also suggest using a separate folder for each CD game for easy organization.
