Can't map Analog Sticks

I use a Speedlink Myon Bluetooth Gamepad with a Note 2 N7100 running 4.4 on RetroArch 1.0.0.2.

My Gamepad wasn’t automatically detected and was only perfectly usable in menus and only the dpad worked ingame, so i used custom binds to configure my gamepad.

I mapped everything that was possible, but there were no options to map my Analog sticks so now playing N64 and PSX games isn’t possible.

Am i missing something or how is this done?

I tried the newest of the weekly builds, still no success.

Isn’t there any way to manually map my analog sticks?

Mapping worked so well for everything else.

Please read the announcement on top of this forum

I am very new to RetroArch and would like to apologize first of all for making a useless post.

But if at all possible, could you perhaps answer a few of my questions? I would be very greatful!

What exactly does it mean that the Android Input Driver is due a rewrite? Does it refer to incoming changes to RetroArch itself or changes to the Android operating System?

I know 1.0.0.3 isn’t released, yet but will the changes to the Input mean that RetroArch automatically detects Gamepads now the Way Android 4.4 does? Since i was surprised that the operating system itself seems to be able to fully use my Gamepad right away, but RetroArch didn’t.

Thanks in advance for your time and great respect for RetroArch. Truly a great achievement!

It’s not useless, thing is this is quite well known issue but yeah I guess I should clear up the announcement.

Anyway, I mean RetroArch’s android input driver. Things in the android world are complicated, lots of fragmentation, different drivers here and there, need to use IMES for some pads others work as native pads, etc. So as far as I know (I’m no lead developer or anything) the current driver is a due a refactor.

Autodetection as you are aware works but analogs are note registering, even using well known pads as the DS3, I’m not sure if this affects everyone but it does affect me too.

What I recall is that the first step of the refactor would be without auto detection, but with mapping working from RGUI, that should work for most people. Autodetection would come back next. Not sure if both of those are planed for 1.0.0.3 or not.

Thank you for clearing that up! I just signed up a short while ago and everything i read made me even more confused!

I can imagine Android being a difficult platform to develop for and truly enjoy getting to play old and new favorites wherever i am with my Gamepad! So i am very grateful for RetroArch, to say the least! I hope there will be a way to use my Analog Sticks when version 1.0.0.3 releases, since this opens up the possibility of N64 and PSX for me, but for now finally giving Chrono Trigger a try is certainly good enough

Thanks again for your help AndresSM!
