Can't open Retroarch on Windows 10

PC Specs: Dell Optiplex 790, 8 gb ddr3 ram, Intel Core 15 2400, Windows 10 Pro, 1 TB Hard Drive.

I tried to download Retroarch recently on my computer, but each time I tried to load it up, it would display the plain old “app has stopped working” message. I have installed DirectX, installed each different windows version (including the 32 bit and 7z versions), and just about everything else I’ve been asked. Also, I have heard to change settings in retroarch.config, but all I see when I open it is config_save_on_exit = “true”. Also I don’t have much programming knowledge, so please keep it simple, thanks!

What kind of GPU do you have? Do you have your GPU vendor’s driver installed or are you using the generic Windows driver?
