If I open a .bin cd image file in a hex editor I can see the correct serial number for any sega saturn game like this:
Question is… Should “MK-” be part of the serial or not? Reason I’m asking is that if I use the “MK-” prefix retroarch will not import it, and if I ommit it retroarch will import the game but it will not show up in the “explore” section for some reason. (All my rdb files are edited by me, so I can use whatever, I just don’t know and would like to learn how exactly retroarch reads the serial from the file to compare it to the db entry).
What I had to do for some games (not all, I think it was specific to serials starting with “MK-”!) is use the number part to import, and then add the “MK-” prefix again to the playlist entry to force retroarch to display the game in the explore section.
