Clarification

I’ve been searching for several hours now on how to play other games on my PS3 (almost everything required 3.5 firmware), but I think I’m finally at the right spot. I hate to be “that guy” and signing up only to ask for help, but I’ve searched the forums and I really don’t understand most of what is being said. I checked the release thread but wasn’t sure what I should download, or even what to do once I downloaded it. I’m just looking for a step to step explanation on how to get RetroArch up and running. I can’t really offer anything in return, but if you like DotA 2 I could give you some items for your help.

Thanks so much!

Upon more research it looks like RetroArch needs 3.5.5 as well?

I would download the GeoHot PS3 3.55 CFW (PS3UPDAT.PUP), load it onto flash drive, bring to PS3, and then go to System Update->Update via Storage Media, and then update and restart the PS3.

After that I would download retroarch-ps3-v0.9.7-cfw.pkg, put onto flash drive, bring to PS3, and then Install Package files.

Is this correct? Thanks again.

You need a jailbreakable PS3 yes.

Most of what you described is pretty much what you would need to do.

I would advise you to wait until RetroArch 0.9.8 is released later this week for PS3 as it will fix a lot of problems.

Unfortunately, talking about jailbreaking PS3s in general falls outside the scope of this forum and I don’t really have any extensive knowledge on that.

Thanks so much man.
