Controllers and Hotkeys?

It’s a long-winded explanation on the how/why but after years of using Xpadder to run my controlers instead of native mapping… It’s no longer the golden option it once was.

So I’m trying to map everything natively now and I’m running into a wall with Hotkeys. I used to have it set so I could, for example, use Select+R2 to fast forward. I can’t figure out how to map hotkeys to anything but single button presses natively in RetroArch though - - - Is there no way to map controller combos??

If not, how on earth are folks mapping these hotkeys into controllers? I’m genuinely curious as I’m feeling a bit turned around dropping a central program of my setup.

Not sure if this is helpful, but I use a DualShock4 with DS4Windows, and that program has this kind of functionality. For example, tap the share & option keys and you get F12 which you can map to some function in Retroarch.

I personally only use L3 & R3 for save / load states and tapping the left and right sides of the touchpad to fast-forward and screenshot. But there’s a lot more functionality in there, you can tap or hold a certain combination of buttons to perform a full macro, launch an external program and so on.
