Controls respond in certain cores, not others via launcher

Using the Daijisho launcher on my Odin 2 handheld, I’m able to run both a parallel and mupen n64 core directly from Retroarch. However when trying to run through Daijisho, I’m able to run NES games (nestopia), GBA (mgba), and several others. The N64 cores do run, but Retroarch does not respond to the controller. Is there a known behavior that would cause the controller to flake out when using a launcher vs. Retroarch directly?

I want to ask here first. I’ll check on Daijisho and Odin subreddits if this isn’t a known thing already.

edit: In the interim I’m switching from nightly to 64 bit and see what happens.

edit edit: Ok I think I’ve run into this before. Something to do with the N64 specifically. Will research.

Ok, I was just poking around and found this: https://github.com/TapiocaFox/Daijishou/issues/181#issuecomment-1642589271

Before I had created an overlay of some kind I think. But this appears to work so far (fingers crossed). Is this anywhere in the front-facing documentation? Because if I with my marginal memory run into it repeatedly I could see others needing the same guidance.

I don’t know that it’s documented anywhere, but that is indeed the fix.
