Converting KEGA Fusion saves to Retroarch's Genplus

Hey, first time posting here, hello everyone.

So, I’m currently in the middle of the process of moving from Kega Fusion to Retroarch’s Genplus core, and the *.srm save files seem to be incompatible between both platforms, I’m wondering if there is a a way to convert them, as I don’t want to lose all of them, and some I’m halfway through the game.

So from what I can gather is that Kega Fusion trims their files, as an example my Monster World IV save in Kega Fusion is 1KB and in Retroarch is 64KB. I Imagine Retroarch’s saves just fill them out with blank data or whatever, so assuming this is true, there’s probably a way to take Kega Fusion’s saves and fill them out so they become 64Kb files as well, but I’m just digressing, I have no idea how these things actually work, so I’m wondering if you guys have any clue about it.

Sorry to barge in, but I did google it and tried asking somewhere else, but I found no answers.

You should be able to use the KEGA srm in RetroArch just fine, even if it’s shorter. When it’s saved, it’ll probably be 64kB again though.

Yeah, I thought as much, considering I didn’t have any problem with any of the other cores, but unfortunately it doesn’t really work, and I’ve tried with multiple games, it just wipes the save and starts a new one (with 64KB indeed), there isn’t any error or warning message in the log either. And congratulations on the Retroarch project by the way, I’m loving this thing.

That happens with most of my Kega saves too. The only one I noticed that worked was Wonder Boy in Monster World. A lot of my saves from VBA-M don’t work in the VBA-Next core either (Boktai, Ninja Five-O…).

That’s somewhat funny because I’m actually playing Wonder Boy in Monster World in my actual Mega Drive for the first time right now.
