CRT-Guest-Advanced, HD and NTSC for ReShade!

FYI, the NTSC sharpens option makes the image really washed out.

Phase 2 of back-porting the updates form “crt-guest-advanced-2025-03-30-release1” to ReShade

I did cleanup my changes here https://github.com/Jobima1st/ReShade-Shaders and https://github.com/Jobima1st/CRT-Guest-ReShade and https://github.com/Jobima1st/CRT-Guest-DX9

There was some bugs in my changes that I fix it when I was cleaning so I recommend updating

If everything OK I will do PR to DevilSingh

@cncz42 the one duckstation has uses the resolution from the game. E.g. the PAL version of Silent Hill seems to be running at 320x255 based on Duckstation’s statistics.

I noticed that even when I turn the border and vignette all the way down to 0, there still seems to be a slight border around the image. Is there any way to remove it completely?

do you know if there is no way yet to add dithering + rainbow on Sonic Mania like the original Genesis games ?

This is already achievable through Guest’s NTSC preset but for RetroArch.

Thanks for the help. Nothing of what could get through CRT guest NTSC preset or NTSC adaptive from ReShade is what brings the desirable result

It’s all about setting the input resolution right, which can be a challenge sometimes.

Also not to be forgotten:

IMPORTANT -

Resolution settings ( Resolution_X and Resolution_Y ) can usually be found at the bottom in Preprocessor Definitions .

is there another shader being required in order to use preprocessor definitions ? i set number values for X and Y but nothing happens. These parameters have 320 X and 240 Y set on grey by default

(crt guest NTSC shader being used here)

This is the closest I can get.

Guest NTSC shader seem to not been fully updated to your most recent version for RetroArch.

Any chance to update it with Rainbow parameters like your wonderful current version @guest.r

Great work still. At least the dithering still can be present for modern-retro-based games ! Please dont let the rainbow been forgotten in the name of nostalgia !

First one is Guest advanced + NTSC shaders. Second one is just Advanced

Hopefully @DevilSingh or maybe @Jobima update the NTSC port to the latest. I really appreciate the work on the ReShade port, guess will be eventually updated, since the latest RA version should do for some time.

it should be updated since weeks https://github.com/Jobima1st/ReShade-Shaders/blob/Backport-update/Shaders/NTSC-Adaptive.fx (but as I said “I wait feedbacks from both users and devs”)

i tested up again, like this morning with ntsc adaptive from you and this is the best that can get.

One of the best Rainbows that have ever got recently is like the one from Guest, in his now default NTSC guest preset for RetroArch.

The version for DX9 seem like the one I used to see about 2 years ago or more

this is Guest advanced blur + NTSC adaptive, the best that could get

ynnad4, your last post in reply to me? I cant tell since this forum dont mention that if you reply under the person you reply to (or I missed how it work)

anyway, in case you dont know, guest.r did update NTSC shader after 2023-11-18-r1 (see here New CRT shader from Guest + CRT Guest Advanced updates), so the output will never be same

@Jobima oh sorry, yeah it is to you. ntsc adaptive from you and it says that is from 2 weeks ago.

The way Guest has improved Genesis rainbow is just way too good.

The current guest NTSC shader is outdated and i remember those parameters being like 2+ years ago

what I meant was, neither guest NTSC or ntsc adaptive in DX9 have the same rainbow results as Guest’s current NTSC version for RetroArch.

In ReShade, I can see guest NTSC options that are about 2 years ago. This is why asked if can be updated to current version which has a much better rainbow result + dithering

guest NTSC? https://github.com/Jobima1st/CRT-Guest-DX9/tree/Backport-update/Shaders https://github.com/Jobima1st/CRT-Guest-ReShade/tree/Backport-update/Shaders ?

@Jobima ok rechecked for the 3rd or 4th time in case i messed it up.

Yes, its your last version from 2 weeks ago.

This NTSC version has missing parameters that are available for composite Rainbow that were added up by Guest like 1 year or less ago.

This is guest advanced + guest NTSC. Cant get something closer to genesis here. The current NTSC preset version from Guest in RETROARCH is VERY accurate in contrast

I asked on this same thread many months ago if could be updated but unfortunately seem to be on the same spot.

CRT-Guest-Advanced, HD and NTSC for ReShade!

what “missing parameters”? I already did added the uptodate one
