CRT Switch Res problem

I installed crt_emudrive made by Calamity. When I use GroovyMAME, the switch res function works fine. However, when I use RetroArch, I found that some platforms like Sega Saturn, Nintendo 64 and Sony PlayStation would switch the res to 640 x 480p which will exceed the acceptable range of my PVM. Can I set the fullscreen resolution for these platforms to 240p?

Thanks!

If it’s trying to change the resolution to 640x480 then it’s probably because you don’t have the correct resolutions installed in your usermodes.ini for those cores. It’s trying to default back to 640x480p, which is the standard fallback desktop resolution.

You’ll have to put the resolutions in the .ini file, save it, and then re-run vmmaker to assign them and then reboot.

Thanks for the information.

I have installed all needed native resolution sets stated in the link below.

However, the same situation remains. As experiment, I also tried to install super resolution. I found that if super resolution exist, N64 games would switch to 2560x480i instead of 640x480p.

Is it possible for user to manually assign the default resolution for different platforms in RetroArch?

I don’t think it’s possible when switchres is enabled, however if you disable switchres and set your desired resolution before running RA , it will stay at that resolution and all games/cores will use it. That’s how i use RA on my CRT coz switchres gave me nothing but headaches.

BTW I’m not sure if you’re using Windows, but in some instances it can’t tell the difference between interlaced and progressive, so when some emulators try to switch to 640x480i, windows just switches to 480p instead, and then your CRT can’t sync at that frequency.

Agree, turning off Switchres can deal with most situations. The only reason I want to figure it to work is because I want all platforms output the native resolution if possible. I am using Windows, I can tell the difference between 480i and 240p. 480i makes me uncomfortable so I want to play all games in progressive mode.
