Cue file not working, help?

Hi all,

I am new to the forum and new to using retroarch.

I recently downloaded a file with a rar extension.

I then used easy unrar lite on my tablet to extract the the cue file. However when I try to run it on the cue file on retroarch it won’t load.

Any ideas?

Regards,

Joe

Open the cue file in a text editor. Does it point to another file (bin, iso)? If so, do you have that file, with the right file name, in the same directory?

It’s pointing to bin file, but it’s not in the same directory? Any ideas how I could find it?

If your game did not come with the bin file then you do not have a valid image. Download it again or dump the game from a disc to make your own image.

You did mention the extraction from a rar file though. Maybe you missed extracting one or more files.

I downloaded the file in zip from another source. Extracted the files & when clicking on the bin file, the controls come up but the screen just stays black? Any idea?

So you decided to click on the bin file instead of the cue now? Anyway, are you using the right core? You don’t even mention what game or system you’re trying to emulate.

I could not find the bin extract file from the original rar file, so I downloaded the game in zip file format & then extracted the files. There was a bin file from that. The game is disc 1 of metal gear solid for PS1. I am using PCSX-reARMed. Sorry I am new to using emulators.

I see. Did your new image also come with a cue file, or only bin? Also, do you have the bios files set up correctly?

It did not come with a cue file. It came with bin, rtc & srm. How do I set the bios? I don’t understand what they are?

If it came with rtc and srm files it might not even be a PS1 game…

They are small pieces of software from the real console. You need the right bios files to emulate PS1 games. Have you ever used an emulator before?

.rtc and .srm files are generated by retroarch itself

read the cores guide on what bios you need and what it should be named

The guide says I need to put the bios in the same directory as the image. Where are the bios located?

You dump the bios from your real console or download it from somewhere that we cannot link to.

So am looking for PS1 bios?

If you intend to play PS1 games, then I suppose so.

It worked, thanks for all your help
