Different Hotkey mapping for different cores

Suppose I wanted L2 and R2 to bring up the menu or save/load states in an NES core, and leave them L2 and L2 in a Playatation core. Can that be done?

I think you can manually add them to a core override but they will get wiped out if you overwrite the override file from the GUI at a later date (e.g., if you want to change something about it and then re-save).

I’ve tried, but I can’t get the input remap to stick permanantly. OR any remaps at all for that matter. The default input mappings override everything.
