Disable Help Popup

Hi

Apologies if this has been answered before. I searched all over but couldn’t find anything.

Is there any way to disable the help popup in the main RetroArch menu? The one you get when you press Shift on the keyboard or Select on a controller. I like having Select be my hotkey bind, so every time I use it and get into the menu the help popup appears as I am still holding Select. It’s also not very intuitive to get out of either (you have to press back to close it) which confuses the less techy in my family.

I’ve seen a “disable_help_menu” setting in the cfg, but that just removes the Help option from the main menu.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have the same question - as well with not just ‘help’ but the ‘search’ function. If there’s not a way to disable these features, they’re probably should be. Maybe we should throw this in feature request.

I’ve tried removing the joy-button bind from them in the cfg files, but it just re-enters the input.
