DOSBox - keyboard keys not released

When I press a keyboard key using the DOSBox-core and release it again, DOSBox doesn’t seem to register the release and keeps the key pressed forever. The key is also not released when I press another key, for example if I press left in a game, the character keeps walking left. If I then press right, the character stands still and can’t be moved as left and right are both pressed forever.

Whats working normally:

  • The keyboard in the XMB-menu
  • Simulating keyboard buttons with the joystick

What I tried:

  • Using a different input driver
  • Running retroarch with/without gamepad plugged in
  • Enabling/disabling frame-throttling and vsync
  • Starting X11 with retroarch only to be sure the window manager isn’t interfering

Encountered the same issue today. Also, it seems like important keys (slash, backslash, colon) are not working, and Ctrl+F1 does not bring up the key mapping tool.

I read a bunch of threads in this issue and it seems like the DOSBox core isn’t being developed much. These are known issues but there’s no ETA for fixes.

I might have to go back to original DOSBox… Before I do, though, has anybody been able to use the keypad arrow keys?
