DosBox Pure FL Studio audio problem

So I installed fruity loops v3.5 in dosbox pure using Windows 98 SE OS. The problem is the awful audio crackling which I couldn’t fix. Other games/softwares have also this problem. However in most cases I could solve the audio by using 66 MHz settings with 30% performance scale. But in fl studio this didn’t help at all. And using 66 MHz even freezed fl’s UI. So I had to switch it to Pentium II to work properly, but the audio still crackles. I read on github that using older version of dosbox pure which is version 0.99 can solve the audio issue. I tried it, but I couldn’t even start the core itself.

Very facsinating fl studio in dosbox pure could you write a guide on how you did that I would be interested in trying that out. I don’t know what would be the cause or if it’s the processor just having low performance with handling the music making program inside a core that’s inside an emulator. If I knew how to do this I could try to replicate the issue & see if there’s anything I could try out.

Thanks! Well installing fl studio is pretty easy. Just make sure you don’t download higher version than 5, because version 6 and higher won’t work in Windows 98 SE. You can find older fl versions on the “old dos ru” website. Just double click on the exe file and wait for the installation to finish. That’s it. Btw using the exagear windows emulator is much faster and can handle audio without crackling including fl studio. Sadly for whatever reason the full fl studio version doesn’t want to open. Only the demo works.
