Exiting/ changing games on Nvidia Shield portable?

Usually the back button exits the game and either allows you to choose another game, configure, or exit the app.

The back button does nothing on the Shield portable so I can not exit the app or choose another core/game! I either need to force close or reboot system. Is this a bug or is here something I missed? I did not mess with any control configuration either, it is as default downloaded from Play store.

You can change the roms directory to anything you want in the directory settings or you can use the scan directory function. Also you could use the immerse overlay to open the retroarch menu and exit your game, go to onscreen overlay and select overlay preset and open the misc folder, while ingame just press the screen and a menu will appear.
