[Famicom] Nestopia UE Microphone button binding

Controller’s 2 Microphone input, how to?

I’ve tried it in Palthena’s FDS but it didn’t work. (tried vssystem coin buttons, but that doesn’t seem to be it. tried with turbo too, just in case.)

It works in Nestopia. Is it supported yet in Retroarch, too?

libretro currently does not support microphone usage, unfortunately.

Yes, but I do not mean actual microphone-input functionality as such. Rather, having a key press mimicking a microphone input, as Nestopia does.

It is a core functionality which, if missing, renders some parts of certain games (such as Zelda) inaccessible, such as killing these “long-eared creatures.”

[bump] Has the functionality been implemented since?

It is needed to play the Zelda game on the FDS.

Nope, still not hooked up. However, I’m pretty sure you can just kill those guys with arrows (or a million sword hits) like in the U.S. release, right?

Probably. However, this is a basic feature of the FDS, and useful also in Palutena’s Mirror. It is almost a shame it is not more requested than this! (since, both these games are real gems imo)

Just to be clear, this request concerns not support for external microphone as such, but rather button mapping to a simulated microphone.

Upon tapping the button, microphone usage is mimicked and after a few presses, the sought in-game effect arrives.

The Desmume core has a dedicated button for “blowing in the mic” that works well for certain things in Ace Attorney and other games. I think it’s on L3 or R3. I’m sure the same can be setup for Nestopia if someone capable does a pull.

I’m currently unemployed, but I’d be willing to put in 10 USD if necessary for developing motivation, or more.

Although I believe money is not necessarily the prime source of motivation for the developers here, especially such meager amounts.

Still, an important feature, almost on par with the disk-side swapping. Thanks Awakened for the reply! Let’s just hope that the relevant developers get to see this here. Are we in the right subforum for this to happen?

Probably the most effective way to request it would be to go to https://github.com/rdanbrook/nestopia and create an issue there. He’s the dev/maintainer for Nestopia and the libretro-ization is his own work.
