FEATURE REQUEST - Google Play Games saving / multiplayer

Hi all!

This is probably an insanely complicated request, but I was wondering if it would be possible to implement cloud saving through Google Play Games Services… Personally, I device hop a lot, and think would be an awesome feature – I’ve had to restart retro games so many times, if only the console saved file and / or the save states could be cloud synced, it would completely eliminate this issue, or I could play a game some on my phone, and pick it up later on my tablet – in a dream world even on my PC…

https://developers.google.com/games/services It supports Android, iOS & Unity (so I was wondering if the C++ library would let this feature be implemented in the PC version …)

Extending that initial request – if it worked, multiplayer support could be added, and we could play multiplayer (which libretro supports) with the benefits of player matching…

This might be a complete pie in the sky feature request, but it was knocking around in my head and I had to submit it

You get only 3 save slots and a quite small space allocation. I think for apps that need more space it can use Google Drive but I’m not certain. I agree this could be a cool feature, at least it should be doable on the android menu.

Looking at this it seems that with the new save games api, it is counted against a user’s google drive quota – so that might not be the case now? If so, this would be just fantastically awesome…

I wouldn’t mind helping out, I’ve done quite a bit of dev work – just a little android though. Which dev would be best to touch base with? You yourself Radius?

You can set it up in a way that syncs your savefiles/savestates to dropbox or any other webdav server.
