Feature Request: Playlist Scanning M3U playlists

Hi! As stated, this is a feature request, or at least discussion, for the retroarch playlist scanner. I’d like to be able to scan a directory with a mix of bin, cue and m3u files and for retroarch to detect those m3u files and add them to my playlist. I’d also like the option for the scanner to ignore cue files that are already accounted for within m3u files.

So, for example, I have a directory that looks like this:

  • Metal Gear Solid (Europe) (Disc 1).bin
  • Metal Gear Solid (Europe) (Disc 2).bin
  • Metal Gear Solid (Europe) (Disc 1).cue
  • Metal Gear Solid (Europe) (Disc 2).cue
  • Metal Gear Solid (Europe).m3u

Currently, if I scan said directory, the resulting playlist looks like this:

  • Metal Gear Solid (Europe) (Disc 1)
  • Metal Gear Solid (Europe) (Disc 2)

I’d like the option to have it look like this, instead:

  • Metal Gear Solid (Europe)

I know it’s possible to manually add m3u files to playlists by editing the playlist file but I honestly find that process kind of painful, especially if you have a lot of games.

I’d like feedback on how possible this feature would be to implement, if anybody has an idea. If it is feasible, I’d really like for it to happen! I don’t have a lot of money but I’m quite willing to make a bounty for this, within my budget.
