Hello, I have recently installed Retroarch for IOS. I have a jailbroken Iphone 5 and am trying to play Final Fantasy 8. The game seems to work fine up until a random battle encounter. The screen freezes with Squall in midstep while the actual battle music is playing fine. I have tried just about everything I can think of to fix the issue to no avail. Has anyone else encountered this problem and any suggestions? Thank you!
IIRC, this is a very common problem that is caused by the pcsx emulated BIOS. Getting a working, official BIOS should fix it.
Ah i see. Well thank you for the fast reply. I have the scph1001 bios. Is the official bios something different? Or can you point me in the direction of where I can get it?
That should be the correct one, I think, but make sure you have a ‘system’ directory specified in your path settings and you have write permissions to it. Is it saying ‘bios not found’ when you launch games?
I placed the bios in the ‘.Retroarch’ folder and I just checked the permissions and the User permissions were read, write, execute and Group and World permissions were Read and Execute. When I launch the game it does not give me a message that the bios was not found.
Edit: Okay so I changed the Group and World permissions to Write and also deleted all the save states of FF8 and after restarting the game, it is now working. Not sure what did the trick but it is no longer freezing. Thank you for the help.
Hi I tried putting scph1001 file into .retroarch I put the file and extension in lower case. im using winscp to access files on my ipad 3; I accessed permissions by right clicking scph1001.bin through properties. is this the right place to change group and world permissions? I only see checkboxes for owner, group, and others. u can check either r w or x, for each respectfully. I assume the letters stand for write read and execute.
I do not get the warning upon launching ff8 for no bios detection.
help me out please
