FF9 for Psx loading save when switching disks

I’m sure this topic has been beaten down but I couldn’t find a clear answer when reading related topics So here goes. I just finished disk 1 of FF9 and have no way to load my saved data. I have used both save state and the Normal in game saves, but it won’t recognize my save state or in game save on “memory card” when I load the second disk. Any help would be great.

Thanks

I’m not 100% on this, but I believe you can use the ‘disk options’ in RGUI to “append” additional discs to the current one. You can also do it the old-fashioned way and do an in-game save, exit, rename your memory card file to match the second disc and then load up the second disc. It should recognize the memory card then.

Hmmm I’ll give that a try.

So I tried the second way, and I changed the path of the save file in the path options and save over and over but the saved file wont show up in the path I’ve chosen. So I have no idea how to find the save file but if I could I would assume re naming it and moving it to the second disk folder would work… any ideas?

I believe the saves are stored in the “system” directory. Look for something called GameName.[long-string-of-numbers].0.mcr

Hmm where can I even find the system directory?. I looked through my files and don’t see it. Maye I’m looking in the wrong spot.

Which platform are you on? PC? android? something else?

If PC, it’s something you can assign under the general options. I think it defaults to RetroArch’s own directory.

I’m using Android. Galaxy S3 if that makes a difference.

Use the RGUI menu to switch discs.

Sorry I don’t follow. Where is that? Is that part of retroarch?

Yes, it’s the first option I described. Using the onscreen overlay controls, hit the button that looks like the RetroArch space invader icon. The will bring up a green-colored menu known as RGUI.

I know about the rgui but when I go to disk index it says disk 1 and then no disk and I have all 4 disks? Any ideas?

I believe you have to append that other discs, and you’ll have to navigate to them manually. It won’t autodetect them.

I’m sorry im making this difficult but I have no idea how to do that. :frowning:

basically change from disk index 1 to disk index no disk (2) then on disk append find the game. Doing that will load the next disk. So only do that on the load next cd screen.

hey there… im playing final fantasy 8 but havent been able to save my progres. Appasrently it saves in the memory card slot 1 but when i reload the game it says no saved data. What can i do… i have all the bios installed in the same folder as the gam but still nothing

@blackops84 Is this the same problem you asked about in the other thread? If so, I already answered you there: http://forum.themaister.net/viewtopic.php?pid=6159#p6159
