Here is the Video Showing what Happens:
I am using Windows 11 Computer
It’s a bit unclear to me what the exact problem is. Does the directory “D:\Recovery” not exist on your actual drive? Maybe it is hidden for you, but somehow RetroArch can see it. And trying to list its content will give you a “Directory Not Found”, because it has no access rights? This is me just guessing.
When I go into File Explorer I can’t see it at all. That is also with Show Hidden Files/Folders it’s still not there
And says it’s not there when I enter the Folder thru Retroarch
Back then when I used Windows XP and Vista (yeah I’m old), the D:\Recovery was a recovery image for your system. I assume it is a pre-build PC, maybe even a laptop. I forgot how to access it, but it is hidden from normal usage, so you or any program don’t accidently screw your recovery image. I assume you can’t see the D:\ partition in your File Explorer, but for some treason RetroArch can see it.
I don’t know if this is how to do it, as I copy instructions from Windows 10: This PC > Manage to open Computer Management , then select Storage> Disk Management . See if you can locate the D:\ partition. Don’t make changes there, just look if you can locate the D:\ partition.
Yes was Pre-Built for me. Was Made earlier this Month
Give me some Ideas I can try to find
Weird how RetroArch is only Program to see it
It’s weird indeed. And I assume RetroArch is not supposed to see it? Either it is a bug, or it is an oversight in my opinion.
Yes, this is a known bug I’ve experienced myself. It’s some kind of cache/temp folder glitch in which RetroArch reads a temporary file. Can’t remember where it’s located but if I recall correctly it’s in %temp% if you’re using windows.
I’ve had this issue with Playlists showing covers that aren’t in the directory RetroArch “thinks” are in.
Is there a way to get rid/hide it so won’t show in on Retroarch?
Oh I saw your video. So you mean: “Retroacrh shows this folder but is not there because Windows doesn’t show it” ???
Welp, this is different from what I experienced. If I’m not mistaken, you can toggle on/off system files. Have you checked in “retroarch.cfg” if you have a line like “show_system_files = true” ??? If yes, set it to “show_system_files = false” ans save changes.
Yes that is the Issue
I tried to hide folders option but did not work
Turned on Hidden Files/Folders in Explorer and not showed up there as well
Not checked the Actual File just looked at Options in RetroArch
I go check that when I hop on the Computer
Checked the Config File and there is no Line in what you said there be
Okay then, I don’t know, I haven’t encountered this issue myself, so I don’t know how to fix it.
I’d check if it’s consistent, i.e… if RetroArch at a lower version has this “bug” present, if no, I’d stay with that version.
I tried the Stable 1.22.2 Version and the Nightly version from last night and had same Issue
Well then, not sure what else to do if I’m honest. Personally, hidden folders hasn’t harmed my RetroArch experience at all.
It won’t stop me using RA but just bit annoying and love to find a Fix for it
Had on other Computers and Devices that did not have same Issue
That’s a nice clue. Have you checked if in this particular Windows 11 PC, ypu have checked a: “Show hidden system folder and files” option ON?
Since you’re in Admin level (I assume) RetroArch might be “playing by rules”, and if Windows 11 is telling: “I must show hidden files” then RetroArch is “Okay” regardless of RetroArch settings.
That’s my last guess, but might indicate why “Only this pc has the issue with RetroArch”
If this is NOT the cause, then yeah I’m definitely out of ideas.
Done that on Windows Explorer but nothing showed up
That could be very well be the Case but then wouldn’t other Windows 11 users have same Problem?
Yes and no. I’m someone who experiments a lot with my iwn computers, and I recently (as in March) reinstalled Windows 7, then made a Local Account.
Retroacrh behaved A LOR DIFFERENT in Local Account than in Admin Account. That literally broke my experience, for instance:
And all of that for the simple action of not using it in Admin Account.
So it’s not a wild guess, RetroArch literally does and acts depending on how you’ve set your system. The reason why I did Admin + Local in my PC was because I intended to connect Online using Windows 7, so had to do take security measures… honestly, me having to change between Admin and Local account JUST TO SET A CONFIG IN RETROACRH… wasn’t worth the effort nor my setup.
So yes, might/might not be a weird setting conflict between your Environment and Retroacrh.
