Game Mode, and Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling

Should Game Mode, and/or Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling be enabled? Do these options impact performance in any way when using RetroArch?

Hardware accelerated gpu mode is hit or miss right now. The program needs to be coded to use it so in theory it shouldn’t hurt performance and neither should game mode but I’d shut off the overlay.

What is the overlay? I became interested in boosting performance so I could play run the dolphin core in 4K, LLE, with crt-royale shaders. I’m able to play GameCube fine, but I can’t get most of the Wii titles to run smoothly without HLE.
