I’m using a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" running Android 4.1 with a $25 Red Samurai Bluetooth controller from Gamestop. No matter what I do, the dpad will not work with Retroarch, even though it works with other games. I’ve tried manual configuration and using the bluez IME app. The controller has a keyboard mode, but I cannot connect it to the tablet while in this mode, only gamepad.
When I select input in the Retroarch menu, the controller comes up as “samsung keyboard”, but it’s called GS Gamepad in the system Bluetooth menu, so that might be something. I saw another topic here about a similar issue, but the poster was able to fix it with manual configuration. What should I try next? I’ll provide more information if needed.
Update: I mapped the A, B, X, Y buttons to directions on the dpad to test if the dpad was working with retro arch at all, and it didn’t work. I’ll post the debug readings soon.
Update: I found out how to connect the controller to my tablet in keyboard mode, and it works now. If I ever need to use it in gamepad mode, I’ll come back and post the debug readings.
