Gaming Helping Center

Hello, this thread is the Gaming Helping Center, its purpose is to:

  • Ask for help about any game with which you’re having trouble;
  • Provide help for those who asked, if you’re knowledgeable about the game;
  • Share tips and tricks for any game you played, even if nobody asked;
  • Encourage friendly interactions among users about a subject we all like;

Everyone is welcomed to participate, if only to drop some knowledge every now and then. Nonetheless, here are some general rules to keep this place flowing smoothly:

  1. Be nice, whether asking for help or helping out. There’s plenty of shitness in our world, let’s not make things worse here.
  2. Keep it about the games, not about emulation (unless really necessary). Troubleshooting is better suited for this category
  3. Do not brag; this isn’t your trophy room, nobody really cares about how good you are.
  4. Do not insult; some users might have trouble with the simplest of games. Make friends, not enemies. Always refer to rule #1.

I really hope that, with due time, we can accumulate lots of interesting content here.

Thank you for your participation!

And maybe it will become a sub-forum. :man_shrugging:

I just disagree with point 3. What good is being a god at MK2 and Soul Calibur if I can’t show off?

Thank you for your interest! I intend to contribute as soon as I have some additional time. Just some tidbits of information that you’d usually get talking with your best buddy, back in the days. There are also lots of games I suck at, so I’ll try to ask for some tips, to get things started.

About rule #3, the issue is that not everyone knows how to behave. Sometimes, a person starts bragging, then thinking he’s better than others, then finally thinking he owns the place, bickering and annoying the hell out of everyone else. If person A knows how to behave properly, and brags without diminishing others, then person B will complain: “why is he allowed to brag and I’m not?”. Suddenly, the thread is derailed and shitflinging starts. That’s why it’s better to avoid that behavior. I know it sucks, but I’m not making this up; it’s something I proposed because of decades of experience seeing things go awry.

Regardless of the reasoning, we need to stay truthful to the initiative: this is not an ego-boosting section. It’s not meant to provide someone validation from others, nor should anyone seek it from strangers. These things come naturally; after continuous contributions and help given, users will notice and value the expertise from some participants, without anyone asking or promoting, just hard work being recognized.
